NOVA-CBG Fishy Arlington Triangle & Arlington Cemetery (Missing 10 Miles)

Nice day for a ride around the Arlington Triangle with side trips to Arlington Cemetery to pay respects, Memorial Bridge and Hains Point for a speed lap, and the Maine Avenue Fish Market for a nice lunch. Stupid me forgot to turn the Garmin back on when leaving Shirlington and didn't notice it until we got to Arlington Cemetery so I "lost" 10 some miles on this ride along with the PRs I'm certain I had on that segment :( . After the ride, I swung by FreshBikes to discuss my continuing problem with the battery life on the Ultegra Di2 electronic shifting. Will have to bring it back when they have the Shimano diagnostics in from the other shop. Until then, I've got a "reserve" battery to carry with me to swap out if/when the battery craps out on me. Oy!

NOVA-CBG Arboretum Ride...in the Rain

Overcast skies led to some real rain once we got to the Arboretum. Since waiting it out didn't appear to be an option, we set out again only to have the rain diminish and then stop. Still a good ride and a good test of Shiksa's handling in wet conditions.

Bike to Work Day Rides Yesterday

Great morning for a ride to work on Bike to Work Day. Stopped at the FreshBikes Pit Stop in Ballston and then rode on the streets into Rosslyn, through Georgetown and Foggy Bottom and down Pennsylvania Avenue to work.

Nice night for a ride home even with all of the idiot cars out there.

NOVA-CBG After-Work Ride to Mt Vernon

Nice, fast after-work ride to Mt Vernon led by Dino. Got a late start but met everyone at Mt Vernon and, thanks to my trusty TT bike Shiksa, I was able to hang with the big boys all the way back to Jones Point. Sweet!!!

NOVA-CBG Mother's Day CycloFemme Ride to Women's Memorials

Took Shiksa out on this windy day for a slow ride to women-themed memorials in honor of Mother's Day. The crosswinds certainly do push the TT bike so I spent most of the time on the base bar and only a little time on the aerobars. Nice ride and had a nice lunch at Samuel Beckett's afterward. But I think I need to return Shiksa's Di2 battery and get a new one since this one reads at half charge and I've only ridden a few hundred miles and should be able to get several thousand miles out of a single charge. Hmmm...

Ruby's First Ride with Big Girl Pedals

Finally put the Speedplay X pedals on Ruby and went cruising around to test them out. Avoided most of the rain, did a few laps at Ft Hunt, stopped by Ben & Jerry's in Old Town and finished with dinner and drinks at Guapo's followed by more drinks at Capitol City Brew Pub. A nice little ride and I'm really liking the pedals. Let's see how I do when I first encounter some real hills and have to get the cleats to disconnect. Should be fun!!!

TD Five Boro Bike Tour (and the Search for Pizza)

Had a great ride with Randi, Cynthia, and Jim through the five boros in the town I love. It was a bit chilly at the start and whenever you were in the shade and not riding but still a lovely day for a ride and a fabulous route. There were some bottlenecks throughout but generally you could ride along pretty freely. Can't wait to do it again next year.
