VeloDCity Alexandria Hills Plus Touring Around and a TT Test Ride

Another fabulous day for a bike ride. I was even ready in plenty of time, even with the DST change. The first few hills were tough but it was a nice route, even though I detoured with a few others at around mile 17.5 of 36 back to the trail to return to Old Town. And, as I suspected, we met up with the rest of the group back at Belle Haven. I will tackle the rest of those hills on my own on another ride and hope to be able to complete the "real" ride with the group the next time. But to make up for it, I went touring around afterward (after consuming a very nice lunch at Chadwick's with the NOVA-CBG crowd) and stopped at Tri360 to do a test ride of a sweet Orbea TT/Tri Bike with Ultegra Di2. It's a nice ride and something to ponder. And got to end my ride by having Randi join me for a ride back down towards my house and then she returned back home. It was just too nice not to ride all day. And I managed to get my 1/2 century in. Woo hoo!

Arlington Triangle with Jones Point Detour

Absolutely lovely day for a ride. I even got to ride in short sleeves today so I had to put on sunscreen for the first time this year. Couldn't have been better weather. Now if we could just train all those other trail users to be predictable and polite it would be perfect.

VeloDCity Ride on Indian Head - 23 Miler

A wee bit cold and those lovely snow flurries were an added bonus. I still say you can't call a ride any type of flat when there are hills of 7-14% but it's still a fun ride.

Arlington Triangle, Up with a Twist

A wee bit chilly today but not nearly as cold and windy as predicted. I even had to shed the jacket because I got too hot. Beautiful sunny day with a few other brave souls out riding, walking, or jogging. Glad I got out there. And I'm so loving these biking boots. Best. Winter. Accessory. Ever.

Rotor 3D Crank and Q-Rings Shake Down Cruise

A nice but cold day on the bike. First ride with the new Rotor 3D+ Crank and the elliptical Q-Rings. Took only a few minutes to get accustomed to riding on rings that aren't round. Had nice rest stops at Randi's for some hot chocolate to warm me back up, and at the Tri360 and Freshbikes bike shops. There were some flurries when I started and in the middle but there was full-on snow that was sticking by the time I left Freshbikes for the final 3 miles home. A little bit challenging but still fun riding in the snow. Best news is that I didn't have any belly pain riding up hills. Looks like I'm finally healed.
