Time to Toast the Irish

So Warkentien may not appear to be a very Irish name but hell, everyone's Irish on St. Paddy's Day. Had a nice after-ride to Samuel Beckett's to enjoy some Guinness, Irish Bacon and Cabbage, and an Irish Coffee. And I decided to take a ride home in the car with Mary since all that awaited me on the ride home was that big nasty hill leading to my house. Still a very acceptable riding day.

2013 Korte Vasa

Definitely chillier and drearier than riding yesterday. I think it even got colder the longer we rode, but it was a nice, scenic ride along the rivers in DC and around monuments and sporting arenas. I became the de facto ride leader and ride marshal since no one seemed familiar with the ride or the cue sheet. And it was very nice getting back to the House of Sweden for some hot blueberry soup and comradery.

I'm Late, I'm Late, to a Very Important Bike Ride

I underestimated the time it would take to ride to the start of the Vasa ride. Arrived 15 minutes after check-in time but still 15 minutes before the start so no worries. Good warmup ride.

Riding's Sweeter the Second Time Around

It was such a beautiful day I wasn't satisfied with only one ride in Indian Head so I went out again for a spin to FreshBikes. Of course it started to rain while I was in the store but it was only raining lightly when I left. The test rides on the TT bikes will have to wait for another day.

Riding the Postponed Ride on Indian Head

The Charles County Sheriff's ride may have been postponed until next week but Stephanie and I decided to do it anyway and I'm glad we did. The weather was perfect. There was no rain and it actually was sunny and relatively warm. I didn't need the insulated full-finger gloves and got hot enough to take them off and zip off my jacket sleeves. Felt a little queasy around mile 5 or so but that passed and the rest of the ride was really enjoyable. Stephanie did the training regimen outlined by her coach and I kept trying to chase after her to no avail. A great day to ride, so good in fact that now I'm thinking about going out again.
