NOVA-CBG Extended Cherry Blossom Recon Ride

A little chilly at the start but a lovely day to ride. The cherry blossoms are taking their sweet time getting ready to bloom, aside from a few white blossomed trees around Hains Point that have started to bloom. Kenwood is even further behind DC and Chris neglected to mention that there were HILLS up in that neighborhood. Mary, Stephanie, and I decided to forego the ride into Foxhall Terrace and spirited ourselves back to Shirlington via 23rd Street, New Hampshire Avenue, and Virginia Avenue to return to the trail by Thompson's Boat House. A nice lunch at Guapo's topped off the ride, which I followed with a quick jaunt to FreshBikes to test ride a Specialized Shiv Expert. I'm sold on it and priced it to my specs, which amounts to an ungodly amount of money. But I still really, really liked it. So it looks like I'll buy it early next week. Now what the hell am I really gonna do with another bike, much less a TT/Tri bike? And of course this resets the N+1 for bikes. Oy! Such fun!

Charles County Sheriff's Ride

Brisk but nice ride out the Indian Head Rail Trail. Had a small contingent from NOVA-CBG come out and do the ride and all did well. Glad we started early since we encountered all the late starters on the return trip. And there was a nice lunch provided after the ride. Definitely a ride I'll do again.

Time to Toast the Irish

So Warkentien may not appear to be a very Irish name but hell, everyone's Irish on St. Paddy's Day. Had a nice after-ride to Samuel Beckett's to enjoy some Guinness, Irish Bacon and Cabbage, and an Irish Coffee. And I decided to take a ride home in the car with Mary since all that awaited me on the ride home was that big nasty hill leading to my house. Still a very acceptable riding day.

2013 Korte Vasa

Definitely chillier and drearier than riding yesterday. I think it even got colder the longer we rode, but it was a nice, scenic ride along the rivers in DC and around monuments and sporting arenas. I became the de facto ride leader and ride marshal since no one seemed familiar with the ride or the cue sheet. And it was very nice getting back to the House of Sweden for some hot blueberry soup and comradery.

I'm Late, I'm Late, to a Very Important Bike Ride

I underestimated the time it would take to ride to the start of the Vasa ride. Arrived 15 minutes after check-in time but still 15 minutes before the start so no worries. Good warmup ride.
