Kort Vasa Plus Ride to and Fro

Still hurting when I woke up this gray morning but had to get moving to get to the start of the WABA Kort Vasa. Temps were in the mid 40s to start but warmed up during the ride and got into the 70s in the afternoon. Vasa ride was enjoyable, as always, and the new course was a nice change and showed me some new trails and bridges. Enjoyed my blueberry soup at the House of Sweden and the always satisfying Guapo's post ride meal. After lunch, rode out to Revolution Cycles to help Cathy test ride some Domanes. And I got my 200 miles for the week. Woo hoo!!!

BAFS FCBA Spring Ride Day 3

Had to tackle a century today and the day dawned cold and misty, again, with temps in the middle 30s. My right glute was tender and achy but I'm walking better at least. Got to hook on to a nice paceline for most of the first segment, which helped me get a good jump on things. Rode most of the rest of the ride alone but I was generally in the middle of the pack. About two-thirds of the way along, the sun finally came out and it warmed up into the 50s and even touched the 60s. I pushed through and finished my century, so I've now knocked out this month's Strava Gran Fondo. However, this is my last day on the FCBA Spring Ride so I won't be riding all the way down the Natchez Trace to Jackson MS. It was a good time (but more climbing than I like). Perhaps I'll get to do the whole Trace next year.

BAFS FCBA Spring Ride Day 2

Started off with a wonderful breakfast made for us by the folks at Shady Grove Methodist Church. But then we had to go out and ride and boy, was it cold. The Garmin registered low 20s to start and most temps were below freezing until the bitter end when it may have jumped up around 35 to 37. My toes were absolutely frozen almost from the start, probably due to the fact that my shoes were still wet from Day 1. I bypassed the first rest stop at 17.4 miles and didn't stop until the second one at 31 miles. I jumped in the van to warm up and try to dry my socks and shoes. I spent way too much time there but I just couldn't get warm enough. But I did get out and ride the last 23 miles to the church in Collinwood. Big ride tomorrow: 100 miles to Tupelo.

BAFS FCBA Spring Ride Day 1

Day dawned wet and cool, with temps in the 40s. Had a continual drizzle most of the day. Tom and I got to sweep together, which was fun, but I was sure happy to finish up this ride and get out of those wet bike clothes. The folks at Shady Grove Methodist Church were absolutely fantastic to us, making us a wonderful, southern dinner, with banana pudding, cake, and cookies for dessert. What more could you ask for?

BAFS FCBA Spring Ride Practice Ride and Adventure

Arrived yesterday with a bum right hip, a pain I hadn't experienced before, and it's still here today. Funny thing is, I can cycle perfectly fine without pain but walking, now that's another story. Got to figure out what's up with that. Been trying to roll it out and we'll see if that makes it any better. But at least I can ride and got to sweep with Geezerman. After the "official" ride, I went back out to log more mileage and explore around this beautiful area. Hope the hip is better tomorrow but so long as I can still ride without pain, it'll be OK.
