BAFS NOVA-CBG Freezing Saddles Goes to Maryland

Had a nice, chilly ride up the CCT followed by a late Arlington Triangle and some neighborhood loops to get myself 50 miles today. There were a few snow flurries but nothing of any note, and so long as you kept moving, it didn't feel so cold. Now to figure out what to ride tomorrow.

World Cancer Fighters and Survivors Day

Since it's World Cancer Day, I feel I have an obligation to make a post today. But I question, no, scoff, at the title, "World Cancer Day," as though we are celebrating cancer. For those of us who have been personally afflicted by cancer, either ourselves or our loved ones, cancer doesn't deserve a day devoted to it, in its honor as it were. It is an evil, ugly, horrible monster that needs to be scorned, reviled, and beaten down. Rather, we need to celebrate, promote, support, strengthen, and comfort those who have faced or are facing cancer. Cancer cannot be allowed to sit in the limelight. It must be fought, with extreme prejudice.
I re-title this day as "World Cancer Fighters and Survivors Day," in honor of all those, like me, who have battled the beast and come out stronger, and in remembrance of those we have lost, like my mom, whose battles were yet strong but ultimately lost in the end.
Here's to you, cancer fighters and survivors! Here's to us all!
Cancer sucks!!!!

BAFS NOVA-CBG Arlington Triangle & Ft Hunt

My merry band of intrepid riders joined me again for another installment of Freezing Saddles but it certainly wasn't freezing today. It was downright balmy with temps in the 50s and on and off sunshine. The snow/slush/ice was virtually gone on the trails leaving behind nothing but sand and salt. We had a spirited ride but lost Mary and Rod as we started down the path towards Ft Hunt as they were both spent from their great effort yesterday riding 66 miles out to Baltimore from College Park. My boyz and I continued on down to Ft Hunt and did the return ride to Shirlington. Tim got himself his monthly Gran Fondo as he rode before he met us and still had to ride home. Great riding all!

BAFS NOVA-CBG Eisenhower Valley & Arlington Loop

The warm weather brought out many more riders for today's iteration of the Freezing Saddles ride. Really lovely riding conditions. Did encounter a little bit of snow/slush/ice on the trails but not too bad. Decent mileage today. Now need more tomorrow.

BAFS NOVA-CBG Aimlessly Riding for Miles

Picked up a new Freezing Saddles participant and went out aimlessly wandering in search of miles. Not as cold as yesterday or at least that's how it seemed to me. Now for my weekly sleaze rides this week to maintain my lead in BAFS.
