Day 2 dawned warm and sunny. Got out and really kicked it today, even passing a 10+ person paceline that must've been going 20+ mph, and we whizzed by like they were standing still. Had lots of 25+ mph segments early on and was maintaining a 20 mph average through Abby's Coffee, but the crosswinds we encountered in the lower keys really started to get to me and starting dropping my average below 20 mph. Wound up with an average speed of 19.9 mph to the entrance to Key West, and a 19.8 mph average rolling speed for the complete ride, including the trek to the high school. A pretty good showing!

Finished Day 1 of the Smart Ride 10 with 104.52 miles logged. Got to ride with my "honey," Tim, who kept me challenged all day. I especially loved the last leg, where he said, "We'll take it easy on this one," and then proceeded to go balls to wall. I had to go upwards of 26 mph to catch him and then we were cruising at 30 mph...ON A FLAT! After a SNAFU at the resort, we finally got our room assignments. Now it's time for some dinner and entertainment, then another 65 or so tomorrow.

Beautiful day for a ride. A little cold to start but it warmed up nicely. Finally got the Garmin 810 to work properly and read the cadence sensor. Had a really nice tour of Gunston Hall, an historic site I'd never before visited. Nice route and good apres ride too.

Fall is definitely in full swing and the temperature at the start of this ride certainly proved it. It was in the high 20s when we arrived at the start and perhaps around freezing when we started rolling. After a few miles, the toes warmed up and I was toasty all over. The knee continued to cause me distress when climbing, even on the little rollers on this ride, which had only a couple of real "hills" in it. I was able to fight my way through it but I'm thinking that tomorrow's VeloDCity Ramble is better left undone as I'm sure the knee will still be sore. This is getting old (as am I). But otherwise, a beautiful and enjoyable ride.
